Worn out CD Player

TEAC 5 Disc Multi CD Player

We have just replaced a worn out Multi Changer CD Player at a local Indian Restaurant. The old TEAC 5 Disc Multi Changer CD unit has served them well considering it was working 7 days a week for around 8 hours per day for the last 4 years! So we have replaced the unit with the same model with added MP3 Playback function. Hopefully this will give them the same service! If you are interested in purchasing on of these units we sell them on our online shop at http://www.audio-visual-uk.co.uk/  or just CLICK on the Teac CD Picture or link above.

For more details about installation of PA and Background Sound Systems please contact us at http://www.gregoryav.co.uk/ or by telephone on 01254 674444.

Sensory Room Repaired

We have recently been asked to service and maintain sensory rooms in the area, Some tasks are not to bad such as replacing sensory room equipment, changing lamps, clearing filters on projectors, but some are more difficult and require some skill! Such as programming the computer that runs the equipment or repairing control units that take a bit of a beating! Other jobs that need doing are such as cleaning and changing the bubble tube water and changing the air stones which in it's self is a job and a half! Gregory Audio Visual Technicians also PAT Test the equipment where needed and keep the sensory room equipment in full safe and working order. If you need further information about this service we offer please check us out at http://www.gregoryav.co.uk/ or call us on 01254 674444.

Hi to all readers of my blog, so sorry I haven't posted for over a month but it's been crazy busy period at Gregory Audio Visual. With a great number of recent media jobs, installations, conferences, events and a busy retail shop I just haven't had time.

Last month Gregory Audio Visual successfully won 6 major contracts for installation work and 3 service contracts. We successfully fit a bespoke multi thousand pound installation that to the best of our knowledge has never been done before. I would like to take this opportunity in thanking David and his team at Taylor Shaw Manufacturing Ltd (TSM) in Oswaldtwistle for there help and support in the bespoke screen design.

AV provided for Royal Visit to Darwen & Blackburn

Gregory Audio Visual was happy to supply KW's of powerful lighting and technical know how for the Royal Visit today. We were approached by Darwen Aldridge Community Academy to provide lighting for the Royal guests in the main assembly area. You could hear the crowds outside Darwen Aldridge Academy who let out a huge cheer when the couple arrived this morning despite the downpour rain. Miss Middleton was wearing a navy blue skirt suit and quickly sheltered under a large black umbrella because of the downpours. Inside the worlds TV and Press were present with cameras clicking like crazy. After the event the Royal couple went on to Witton Park Blackburn. Gregory Audio Visual would like to take this opportunity to wish Prince William and Miss Middleton all the best for their Wedding Day on the 29th of April.

Filming and Editing

Quite a few people pick my brain for info on filming and editing. With the YouTube revolution many companies as well as individuals now use this popular media service.

However there are some pitfalls! Editing being the main one!

Think how are you going to do this?

What program are you going to use?

This is important as I have found that some camcorders do not work well with some editing software. (eg) Sony Camcorders work extremely well with Sony Vegas but are very poor with programs such as Adobe Premier Pro CS4.

YouTube seems to prefer MP4 files for quick and easy uploads, again you need to ensure that that editing software can handle this type of video encoding.

That aside most modern camcorders can produce excellent results and with carefully planned  storyboard, script and narration you should be able to produce a half decent video.

I have noticed that many company/corporate video clips on YouTube sound poor and are badly lite,  this comes across as very amateur! Personally I've found that video clips made this way do the company more harm than good.

To give you a feel of a professional video on YouTube, here is one we did a few years back please check out the link below.

    Monday's Blog

In work at 6.15am for a refit at a local conference centre. We had ordered a replacement lamp for a Sanyo XP100 Professional Projector but the supplier sent the wrong one, so they sent out the correct one on a "Pre 9am" special delivery, which we were told would arrive between 7am and 9am, it arrived at 10.25am!!! City Link Couriers!. So refit was done later than expected but in time. (Picture shows our installation of 2 x Sanyo XP100 projectors working via a AMX Touch screen control desk)

Next job channel cut through a concrete floor for a heavy armour covered mains cable that was sunk in the floor for ongoing job. It's a dirty dusty job but someone has to do it!

The studio was also busy with more work for RB Entertainment and DVD Duplication for Elevation Entertainments

That was the week that was!

Last week yet again was very busy, priced up a few quotes, but it's so annoying when you take time out to speck up a audio visual job, spending lots of time and experiance for the customer to farm out your quote to the competition, still we were so competative we got the job anyway. Ah well rant over, so what was we up to over the last few days?

On Friday we installed a massive 65" LCDCLEVER BOARD. Weighing in at a massive 85Kg the unit has to be correctly fitted to a load bearing wall. The unit comes with 8 rawl bolt fitting but for added safety we fitted a further four fittings just for good measure! We also supplied a personal computer with a FREE monitor, loaded with Windows 7 and the software to make the board active.  The client was so impressed with the unit they have been in contact with us.

Saturday the shop was busy with people with sales and service.

Monday was a installation of a projector, security cage, PC , Cleverboard,  and monitor.

Today we were busy in the studio with yet more video transfer work. We also converted some old cine film to DVD and converted old audio cassette tape to CD.

We are very busy this week with Audio Visual Equipment Hire. So far we have hired out several Fastfold Screen, Pop-Up Screens and Microphones. We hired out equipment for the sucessful Hip Hop event at Jazzy Kexx in Blackburn on Saturday Night, and are current supplying a return customer with a large setup which includes screens, LCD TV's PA System and Projection Equipment.
Great news that we won another big order to fit "Clevertouch" Interactive Screen at a local business which will be installed on Friday. In the meantime the studio is still busy with work for Elevation Entertainments and also transferring stacks of "Home Video" collections to DVD Disc. Unfortuately due to the rise in raw materials and the VAT we have had to increase our charge for this service. To find out more on transfering your old video memories to DVD please contact us at studio@gregoryav.co.uk .
We are also in the process of transferring our collection of Master Copies to DVD Disc. Magic Moments Video filmed 1000's of video from Weddings, Charity Events, Corporate Videos to School productions our recent transfers include Avondale School Videos and the Menigistis Trust back in the early 1990's. Busy Busy Busy!

Another great start to the new year, so lets think positive!

Monday, two big conferences to set up! Including a NEW customer who are having a series of regional meetings in the northwest! - Studio busy as well with video production work! - Gutted that we have had to increase prices due to the VAT but hey ho got to be done I'm afraid.

Tuesday, more events and two emergency call outs for PA and sound equipment. One customer was frantic about problems with her own Laptop to Projector setup, with over 200 people in attendance she was in a state of collapse. The problem was that the PowerPoint presentation had video files attached but they were not embedded to the program, so yes it worked fine at her works but not when she transferred the PowerPoint to her memory stick! With luck she had the video files saved in another folder! I had to laugh because as I walked in the room to sort the problem she said I would sort it in 90 seconds! "NO PRESSURE THEN"!!! - I did take me 3 minutes!

Wednesday, More work in the studio to complete, one job we turned around for a customer within 2 hours from receipt, the email I got back from Carla simply said, FANTASTIC! Thanks Nigel. Isn't it good when people take time out just to say thanks. We also had a quote to sort out for a conference suite being built, it seems lot's of companies are now building "In-House" conference suites, maybe it's to save money, I'm not quite sure. Also did a replacement to a VGA cable that got damaged in a floor box during a carpet refit.

Today Thursday, Started with helping out at our local HOSPICE, the TV in the day room wouldn't work, checked it out seems someone accidentally pulled the Scart Plug out of the back. It was great to see the happy faces when the TV came back on, and before anyone asks we did it for free!!! I'm off now to sort out a problem at a conference facility, I love problems they make me money! LOL

Great Start to New Year 2011

We have fitted a "Woofa" alarm to the projector which deters thieves. The school head said they war "delighted" with the finished work.

Gregory Audio Visual have also just secured a contract to refit a public address system with the latest technology from Audio Technica. The job has been in planning and with the help of Audio Technica Technicians we are delighted to have to contract to proceed in the multi thousand pound job.
