Filming and Editing

Quite a few people pick my brain for info on filming and editing. With the YouTube revolution many companies as well as individuals now use this popular media service.

However there are some pitfalls! Editing being the main one!

Think how are you going to do this?

What program are you going to use?

This is important as I have found that some camcorders do not work well with some editing software. (eg) Sony Camcorders work extremely well with Sony Vegas but are very poor with programs such as Adobe Premier Pro CS4.

YouTube seems to prefer MP4 files for quick and easy uploads, again you need to ensure that that editing software can handle this type of video encoding.

That aside most modern camcorders can produce excellent results and with carefully planned  storyboard, script and narration you should be able to produce a half decent video.

I have noticed that many company/corporate video clips on YouTube sound poor and are badly lite,  this comes across as very amateur! Personally I've found that video clips made this way do the company more harm than good.

To give you a feel of a professional video on YouTube, here is one we did a few years back please check out the link below.
